Dershowitz on Israeli Human Rights

I've received a link to a short YouTube video featuring American lawyer, professor at Harvard Law School and political commentator Alan Dershowitz, in which he details a challenge he issues whenever he speaks publicly on the Middle East. Dershowitz holds a range of views from across the political spectrum, and as such there will always be people who will dismiss his views on an ad hominem basis. However, I'm interested to hear your views specifically on what Dershowitz says in the following video (it's a only a little over three minutes), which I'm posting here without comment.

Calvin - I agree with him to some extent - that we tend to ignore a lot of abuse of human rights in other countries which need to be challenged. But this piece is really rhetoric and doesn't seem to provide evidence. My point is that the State of Israel cannot bear divine fruit outside of the Messiah (i.e. John 15 - Mark 11 Matt 21).

It is indeed shameful that Calvin, claiming to be a Christian, is now promoting the views of an ultra Zionist thug by dissemination of such immoral material in support of outrageous Israeli abuses of human rights. Shame on you.

"ultra Zionist thug" c'mon how do expect anyone to take your opinion seriously when you call someone a thug! Have you ever met a real thug before. Shame on you!

@Andrew Sibley. This is a bit of weird statement to make: "My point is that the State of Israel cannot bear divine fruit outside of the Messiah (i.e. John 15 - Mark 11 Matt 21)."

Would you say this of every other nation and every other individual? If so why did you single out Israel for this comment.

I think all should take note of the word of God in Matthew 23.

anon above - yes I would say that about every individual and nation -read John 15 - apart from being grafted into the Messiah we can do nothing of spiritual value in God's eyes. Isn't that what the text means? Andrew S

Dershowitz is the one who was justifying and defending torture, and now he has the 'chutzpah' or gall to speak about human rights?!
As usual, and as with all Zionists, he portrays Israel as the victim when it has been involved in murder (extra-judicial assassinations), oppression, collective punishment of civilians and ethnic cleansing.
Thanks to Israel's "stellar" human rights record, the number of Christians in the Holy Land has been dwindling. Is this what the Evangelists want?

Andrew S, but is that what you meant and why did you single out Israel for that comment and none other till challenged?
